Default Power Trim/Tilt Leaks into Hull

It's my neighbors boat so I don't know all the specs, but its a V8 with an
outdrive. The power trim keeps leaking into the rear transom area until the
fluid reservoir is dry. The question is: Will it damage the power trim unit
to run the boat as is? We don't really need to use the trim & tilt the
remainder of the season. Don't want to burn anything up by being low on
fluid. Thanks.

As logn as enough fluid stays in the cylinders to hold the outdrive in
a fairly neutral position then it doesn't matter if the rest of the
system leaks down. I'm guessing it stays in the water?

Good point! Yes it stays trimmed wherever it is. But that makes me think
at some point it may try to move. We better keep spare fluid with us just
in case. Glad you mentioned that point.
