Love the look on the band director's face! He's looking at her like
"holy hell!"

That's the concertmaster, and he's a dead ringer for a younger Kelsey
Grammer. Did you notice the little wink he gave her before she started?

I did some research, and it turns out that is not the concertmaster, but
rather the evening's featured attraction. His name is Andre Rieu, and he's a
violinist from the Netherlands. He conducts the orchestra while playing the
violin, providing direction using the movement of his bow and violin, as
well as body motion. This was his concert, and he introduced the young
trumpeter to the audience as a special guest. The trumpeter is Melissa
Venema, and is also from the Netherlands. She was 13 years old at the time
of this concert.

I always preferred Maurice Andre playing the piccolo trumpet. These
days, when Wynton Marsalis is playing serious music, he's my favorite
trumpet player. Andre is still with us, thankfully.

Here's an oldie of Andre playing a bit of Bach. A bit more involved than
Taps.

You can actually like both, unless you only purpose is to be a pompous ass.
