I wouldn't complain about 13 mpg. I get 7/8 mpg towing the Ranger with
the F-150 and that's dowhill with a tail wind.

How's it do towing that Grady? :)

I get about 14 mpg towing my 21' Parker, and my Parker cuts a much
larger hole through the air than that flat-decked Ranger.

Tow speed might have something to do with it. I tow at 55 around here.
That's the speed limit on the main state road. One of the idiots here
claimed he towed at 70 mph+.

That is almost expected on I-40 west of Wilmington, NC.... otherwise
you'll get run over.

Then I suppose I'd be a traffic hazard, since I would not tow a boat
that fast.

Now you know why, except for my son's G3.... I don't tow.....

I go the speed limit usually. But then, I've hauled much larger and
heavier things than my bass boat.

I found myself moving along pretty good this weekend a couple of times
coming home from Maine... My liberty gets **** for mileage.

My new Dodge truck doesn't do too bad, but could be better especially
when towing. It's got the tow package, so the rear end is geared a
little lower and that doesn't help unless you are going slow.

Same in SWFL. Harry could tow at 70+ also if he had his trailer set
up properly and extracted his head from the nether regions of his
copious body.

Uh...my trailer is properly set up. It's a custom trailer and was "set
up" properly from the factory specifically for my Parker *AND* the
Parker dealer, whose mechanics have forgotten more about boat trailers
than you will ever know, tweaked it a bit, too.

I tow at 55-62 mph, max, for a number reasons:

1. The slower tow speed is safer.

2. It burns less gas and is easier on my tow vehicle.

3. I prefer towing at the speeds I tow.

Now, W'hine, why don't you stick your head back up your ass, where it
obviously belongs.

Don't know why anybody thinks they'll get "run over" doing the speed
limit.
I go slower than most traffic all the time. Never got "run over."
Don't even hardly ever get tail-gated.
But I see a lot of tail-gating happening in the string of cars passing
the truck I'm usually behind.
That's a little trick to keep the lemmings away. They see the truck
and change lanes before they even get close to me.
Plenty of steady going semi-trucks doing the limit, mile after mile.
Is that "run over" thinking similar to what has folks racing up to red
lights?

Drive on I-285 in Atlanta much? They don't call it the Atlanta 500 for
nothing!
