Default Frontier MPG towing the Tolman

Towing the Tolman to Cedar Key and back was kinda shocking in terms of
finally getting the mpg while towing; 13 mpg. This is with my new
Nissan 4wd Frontier and the Tolman is a fairly light boat. I think
the old Dodge Ramcharger would do just as well (8 cyl 318). The
Nissan has trouble accelerating while towing whereas the Dodge does
not.

We drove a Saturn Vue with the 6 cyl engine all over the mountains and
plains for 10 days this summer. With two adults, two teenage girls and
the back packed with more suit cases than you can count on your fingers
and toes we got great mileage some up above 28 MPG. The thing even had
enough left over to get up and go when you stepped on the accelerator
when you needed to pass someone.

Well, of course...towing a boat behind a pickup truck is exactly the
same as driving around a sedan with four people in it. I can see why you
brought this up: you think that Saturn would make a great, high mileage
tow vehicle.

I like the Saturn Vue. We once rented one for a month and were very
impressed with its quality and driveability.
