That adult experience started with almost 9 years in the military service, entered into at a time when race relations were not what they are today. Trust me. That was a crash course in the racial disharmony that existed in the 60's. When I was in the USAF in the sixties everyone was warned that any hint of Jim Crow, by anyone of any color, would be savagely dealt with. I never saw a hint of racism, except by one black personnel specialist who I managed to pretty much avoid. My boss told him if he showed up at our third floor shop he would leave through a window.
