What is interesting is he plays it more like an Acoustic. I wish I could do
hammer downs that well.

Did I ever tell you about the time Dire Straits asked me to do some
studio work for them? I really wanted to, but I had to run reelection
campaigns for 4 congressmen. It was a bummer having to turn them down
on the offer, I would have gotten credit on the album cover.

Was that after the first or second time you rounded the Horn or was it
the after second time when you sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii?

Actually it was a few months after the first time I rounded the horn,
and about a year before my solo round trip from San Francisco to Hawaii.
I had just gotten back from a Democratic Brain Session where I was
chairing a round table discussion as how we could regain a few key
seats in Congress and the Senate. Out of the 10 Congressional Seats and
8 Senate seats we were able to regain 7 Congressional Seats and 7 Senate
seats. It was a very demanding year, because I was handling speech
writing for 8 of the candidates. As an interesting side note, Linda
Ronstadt was there with her then boy friend Governor Brown, and we
shared a dinner table on the 2nd night. She was very social, and while
a little flaky on some of the issues,( she know what she supported, but
really didn't know why),.both my wife and I found her to be very
pleasant. We were surprised when we received a Christmas card from her
inviting us out to her home for the Christmas season. Due to business
demands, we had to turn down the offer.

This has a ring of truth to it.

It is all in how you tell the story. The details are always important
when you want to fabricate a story, but it is important that you have a
good memory, or you will get the stories all confused and mixed up, and
end up looking like an idiot.
