My boats are all named, "boat" All my boats have had names that are related to my other long time hobby - so far, names have been Long Wave, Quarter Wave, Half Wave, Wave Length, Freguent Sea, Standing Wave, Traveling Wave and of course good old Short Wave. Long Wave was used twice - the Contenders. The Grady was christened Frequent Sea, Half Wave I through IV were all bass boats, Quarter Wave I and II was the Princecraft and a 18' Lund guide boat, Wave Length was a Town Class sailboat I owned in high school, Standing Wave was a 18' lapstrake center well lobster boat based on the Swampscott Dory style lapstrake construction also in high school. Traveling Wave was a Fortier 26 that I owned for all of two months - it sank at the dock due to two freak major malfunctions - the intake hose burst and the stuffing box gave way - both relatively at the same time. The marina manager said it was fine when he went home, next morning, it was on the bottom. Never gonna use that name again. :) My favorite name, of course, is Short Wave and was the original boat that I inherited from my Dad - a 13' Boston Whaler Sport with a 30 horse Evinrude. The second Short Wave was 17' Montauk which I bought right after I was discharged from the service - got it used from my old high school after school boss. The name was never used again until I bought the Ranger. And of course the business name that is currently in hiatus. |
