Yes, one of his ideas was that electricity could be extracted by
natural means though nature, harnessed and distributed for free.

Looks like that never happened.

It is actually about 15' tall inside the cage. Used to be able to push the
start button and get it going. Does not seem to work anymore.

They may have just turned it off. Made lots of noise. Plus they want you
shopping not playing.
