Marital Bliss

Evidently not.

Sanford, who also admitted meeting his lover more times than he had
previously claimed, told The Associated Press in emotional interviews
that he "crossed lines" with a handful of other women during 20 years
of marriage.

It's hard to overlook this backdrop to his life while he was promoting
his "principaled" approach representing SC.

No, not at all. But the folks who voted for him based on his family
values and principled behavior sure must be enjoying the proceedings.

did not work for him.

Actually, the more a Republican pol professes his/her piety, "family
values," and dedication to GOP principles, the more likely he or she is
pandering to the simple-minded party base.

As in: "Let's vote for Sanford...he's a god-fearing, christian family
man. We can overlook the fact that he's a flaming asshole."

It warms my cold, cold heart to see these self-righteous "conservative"
assholes take the big fall on issues of "morality" and so disappoint
their constituents.

How do you know that? He's admitted to several over-the-line
relationships, at least some of them might have been with staffers.

Would you say the same thing for Ensign? Cheating on his wife with a
staffer's wife who also worked for him?

Can you say flip-flop?

Clinton never held himself up as a paragon of christian marital virtue.
Ensign and Sanford did.
