Actually, the more a Republican pol professes his/her piety, "family values," and dedication to GOP principles, the more likely he or she is pandering to the simple-minded party base. As in: "Let's vote for Sanford...he's a god-fearing, christian family man. We can overlook the fact that he's a flaming asshole." It warms my cold, cold heart to see these self-righteous "conservative" assholes take the big fall on issues of "morality" and so disappoint their constituents. |
