The point I like to make to my vegetarian friends is this: I am an omnivore because it would be highly disrespectful for me to ignore the contributions of my forbears, over the past 5,000,0000 years, as they scratched and clawed their way to the top of the food chain. Also, etymologically speaking, "vegetarian" is simply an American Indian word meaning "poor hunter." I'm not sure I'd willingly chose the mantle of poor anything......
