Default Shopping Tip for Nikon DSLR Fans

A store that sells through Amazon has replacement UC-E4 cables for
$3.70, about $20 less than the same cables Nikon sells. These are the
cables that connect your computer to your camera via the computer's USB
port and the camera's "small" USB port.

That would be called the micro-USB port.

Yup. And they are very common. I have two or three.

I ran into those the other day - I never even knew the camera had a
mini-usb port. Go figure.

Also found out they make mini-drives for CF and SD cards - didn't know
that either.

I need to do some reading up on this stuff. :)

D'oh...the point the DK/Loogy idiots missed: Through Nikon and big-time
resellers, the Nikon cable typically sells for $25 to $35. Finding the
Nikon cable for under $4.00 is a bargain. The Nikon cable is a bit
different than the cheapo ones...

The cable typically is faster for offloading the contents of the memory
card than a card reader and is also useful for manipulating my camera's
settings, among other things, with Nikon Camera Control software.

Once again, you've proven yourself an idiot:

I seem to be having a hard time finding a $30 USB cable for my Nikon
DSLR........

Downloading directly from the camera through the USB port is
significantly faster than my PCMCIA CF card holder or an external card
port that attaches to the computer's USB port.
