This was the old IBM 3800, about 18 feet long with the burster with a 3' diameter PC drum and a 3.2KW fuser that moved 3 feet of paper a second, printed, trimmed, bursted and stacked. The lizard was unhappy when one was broke and frantic when it was 2. 18' long? Holy schitt! This is a picture of one without the burster. http://www-03.ibm.com/ibm/history/hi...year_1976.html That adds 5' to the end. There was also the roll feed that added a few feet to the other end. It used a big roll of paper instead of the fan fold box. When they use box paper they used 3600 sheet boxes of paper instead of the standard 2400 sheet box regular mainframe printers used. The printer was solid as a rock, the burster sucked. Thanks. I've never seen anything like that! Expect Bernie Madoff had one. |
