Default I just bought my first boat and was wondering if this is the blog forme. What is everyone's opinion of this group?

At first glance I noticed alot of political talk and bitching about
whole lots of things that have nothing to do with boats. Is there
really useful help on this group too? It seems to have lots of users
which is great. So let me know about this usenet group. Thanks Mike-

Try to filter the political folks. You'll find some good info here for
the asking. But, there is a pack of HK friends who are from a lot of
other groups. They'll have long political threads. Just filter them
all. HK is Harry Krause.

If you ask a question and filer out the political posters, you will do
fine... There are many very knowledgeable folks who read the group but
only come out when the conversation goes to boating.

to filter them

I use GoogleGroups mostly which has no filtering capability that I
know of, but you can ignore what you wish to ignore.

It works for me....

Well, tell us about your boat so we have something to talk about
besides politics.

I just watch the name column. People who never contribute to actual
discussions about boats and post hundreds of posts on everything else go in
the kiillfile. Some of the best sources of boat infomation here also like
to discuss politics, so I merely don't read that thread, and allow them
their rights to do so. I'm a new boat owner, too, and have gotten lots of
help from the regulars. The idiots are easy to recognize and killfile.
Just look for soemone who has to answer the same thread post twelve times in
a row to every poster to get his/her/its message across. After a short
time, you'll have cleaned most of the idiots, and after that, you just have
to ding a couple a week.

What kind of boat did you get, and what questions do you have?

Wow, Froggy, that's a great suggestion!
