On the right side of my merc 40 engine, facing it from the rear, is an
UP/DOWN rocker switch. Is this a power trim? Didn't see if it worked when I had the motor running, and today when I pulled the cowling looking for engine SN, I noticed some wires had been disconnected there. Right now, I figure by the engine number that it is an '89 ELPTO. (Electric Start, Long Shaft, Power Trim, Oil Injected) Thanks. Steve |

Steve If it's on the cowling, it's most likely an electric/hydraulic system to tilt the leg up. Check on your throttle and see if there is another switch. If it has one, it can be used to trim while underway. Eisboch |

If it's unplugged, water may have gotten inside causing it run run when it wasn't supposed to. -- Regards, Dave Brown Brown's Marina Ltd http://brownsmarina.com/ |
