Mrs.E. somehow got me a bottle of Samuel Adams Utopia for Valentine's day. Apparently it took quite a while to get. Only 12000 bottles were produced. I have bottle number 3061. Feel kinda cheap because I had just come back from CVS picking up a card and a stupid red Teddy Bear holding a lollipop or something for her. Now, to plan the special occasion to try the beer. You drink it as if it is cognac, according to the directions. I don't want to open it until there are enough people here to enjoy it. Eisboch Not as bad as me. I am in Gold Beach, Oregon running the Rogue river with a bunch of other jet boats. Wife is home with some church stuff. I did leave her a card and candy. |

I got my wife a 52" LCD 1080p 120hz TV for Valentines Day. It replaces a 50" 720p DLP, that my in-laws will inherit. Just in time for the Daytona 500 tomorrow... I know, I'm a softie for this holiday. :-) --Mike |

It should be kept refrigerated from lagering tank till consumption. Don't save it for the occasion of its having gone off. Casady I e-mailed Samuel Adams about this and received a surprising answer. Unlike regular beer, Utopias will keep for at least 10 years after opening if kept refrigerated. It is not carbonated and you treat it more like cognac or brandy. 28% alcohol. Not necessary to refrigerate it before it is opened. Eisboch What does Sam Adams, the famous pooch, think of this concoction? |

I wonder what ADM uses. They distill billiions of gallons a year of ethanol for fuel. What would they know? Casady |

Here's a description of the 2003 batch. The only do it every few years. Mine was done in 2007 and the alcohol content was upped to 27.8 percent, so the literature with the bottle says. It will be interesting to try, when the day comes. http://www.internetwines.com/rws28347.html Eisboch |
