My old desktop was successfully transformed into a server, and is
working properly. I left two gigs of RAM on the motherboard, and will
use the two gigs I pulled off it elsewhere. At the moment, it has two
500 gig SATA drives in it, which is more than sufficient for its
intended purpose.
HP has updated its Home Server software to more easily accommodate Macs,
and I'm experimenting with it now. At the moment, I usually back up
myMacbook Pro to a dedicated LACIE drive via Firewire 800. My HP Homer
Server is not the same machine as my server project.
When I set up my new Mac desktop machine later this week, I'll probably
have it back up to the Homer Server.
