Man, what a rumble ![]() They sent loog's copy to me instead of directly to him. So I thought that instead of paying more to send his along, I'd order another. Maybe thse guys will get the addresses right. Sounds funny, but smell the packaging.. Heavy incense smell, wonder what they were hiding, frekin' hippies ![]() HA! I don't know, but you're came from Iowas, Loog's *was from all places ...CANADA! No wonder it *came to me. ?;^ Q Exciting stuff, eh?- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Excellent if you're into it. ?;^ ) I'm fascinated by your reportage of Herring's finding a boxguy to build him a computer. Typically these days one takes that route because one wants to save a few bucks and build up a desktop unit that is faster in many ways or unique compared to a dell or whatever. There's nothing Herring ever indicated here that would reveal his need for anything more than an Atari 400. Plus, he has a BestBuy a few miles away. Hell, I might have given him one of my spares. I think it important to help the handicapped.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - How's the ram, hdd, and video card going on that snerk "server"... er, uh, backup computer.. BJ's has a 1 TB firewire on sale for $129... My old desktop was successfully transformed into a server, and is working properly. I left two gigs of RAM on the motherboard, and will use the two gigs I pulled off it elsewhere. At the moment, it has two 500 gig SATA drives in it, which is more than sufficient for its intended purpose. HP has updated its Home Server software to more easily accommodate Macs, and I'm experimenting with it now. At the moment, I usually back up myMacbook Pro to a dedicated LACIE drive via Firewire 800. My HP Homer Server is not the same machine as my server project. When I set up my new Mac desktop machine later this week, I'll probably have it back up to the Homer Server. Gosh, to think I did all this without the need ot consult the newgroup computer idiot. That would be...you.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Server snerk |
