As long as the money keeps moving around everyone is happy and the
government has lots of money (taxes) to spend on ridiculous things
(Pork)and some necessary things. When money moves in exchange for
nothing (Handouts, Gifts, Bailouts) etc. some people are happy for a
while until everything comes to a screeching halt. The socialist,
liberal, entitlement crap that Harry is promoting is what got us to
where we are now. You want my money, give me something of value for
it. You love your country, don't run and hide when it needs you to
serve in it's military and then expect it to protect and feed you.
Guys like Harry make me sick to my stomach.

I'll admit to a Roll-Aids from time to time, but that's about it.

Eisboch

Roll-aids don't work for me.. I think I need to roll the turd into his
private bozo bin and throw a couple shovel fulls of dirt over him.

That makes good sense unless your goal is for the government to run the
corporations.

I visited China (PRC) back in 1986 when they were first experimenting
with the concepts of foreign investments and a subtle shift towards
capitalism.

It was an amazing exposure to life under an extreme socialist society.
(Communism)

The average Chinese factory worker had to bow to and worship his
employer who in turn worshiped his provincial mayor for the opportunity
to make a living for his family.

It was sad. And it hasn't changed.

And, it where this country is heading.

Every American and Canadian should support the union/labour movement.
If not for themselves, for their children & grandchildren.

The Chinese Government *is* the ultimate union labor establishment. Are you

The labor unions I've been a member of didn't worship anything except
getting power for their members, and would sooner cut their employer's
throat than worship him.
Guess you don't know much about American labor unions.
And it's disgusting to call American union members Chicoms.
It is the free-trade globalists who gave the Chicoms their power.
I think the ultimate commie labor union is the WSEFU.
That would be the "Wall Street Execs ****-up Union."
That's where you'll find the cretins who push for globalism and
subservience of labor. Their minions are in the Congressional and
Executive branches of the U.S. government.
Just gave them some hundreds of billions of taxpayers money.
I have my own idea about who the commie leaders are, who are
apparatchik, and who has the dachas.
Sure as hell ain't labor unions.
BTW, while I'm ranting here, might as well tell everybody what nobody
else wants to tell them.
This country will continue its decline until we start making our own
goods again. No two ways about it.
The party is over. Wall Street's rise, and all the non-productive
"work" it has provided, is kaput. It was smoke and mirrors and a
mountain of debt buying foreign goods that enabled and sustained it.
Honest blue collar factory labor will rise again.
Whether it's unionized or not is a side issue.
If you've saved some of the money cheap overseas labor has earned for
you in buying your toys, you'll be okay.
If you've spent like a drunken sailor and dug yourself into a hole,
you're in for "an entirely new experience."
Of course - and as usual - I may be wrong.

Unions are not about choice, be it a new worker being bullied or a
government. Take the Canadian NDP party, a union party. They offered $1
billion of tax payers money to the Bloc (Quebec party) if they got their
votes for a year or two to form a coalition coup d'etat. And as I and other
suspect, because they wanted tax payers cash for GM/Chrylser. Saved by a
quirk in the parlimentry system, but still possible.

Now that is meddling in Canadian politics. The NDP Layton should be
arrested for bribery of a MP representative.

It's happened before. (-:

I don't think that is the way out. We need massive infusion of capital
to get the economy moving, and corporate America ain't spending it.

Why should they? All they will do is become penalized via taxes.

Eisboch

Well, then, let them liquidate themselves so others who want to run a
business can fill the voids.

You have to be kidding. Businesses survive, employ people, provide
health plans, and grow because they can make a profit. Take that
incentive away and you get what we have now.

Eisboch

It isn't taxes that it keeping corporations from making money. It is a
crapped out economy and bad management.

More the economy. And government is a major cause of the economic woes.
It, under both major parties, has become a huge borrower, taking a lot of
capitol out of circulation. Encouraged overspending. The last stimulus
package was a failure, so BO is proposing 2x the failed program. I know you
do not care about your kids, if you ever had any, but all these people
crying for the government to save them from the pain of greed by themselves
are willing to put the pain on their kids, grandkids and great, great
grandkids. You could read it here a couple years ago when the cost of
buying a boat was discussed. A couple of posters said they did nto really
care what the boat cost as long as the monthly payment was affordable. 15
year loan on a $9000 boat. This Congress and the executive branch have
bungled the bailout. And BO is looking to 2x bungle it. The S&L bailout
could be an example. 3000 banks closed, but the resolution trust seemed to
handle it decently. None of the governments are talking about cutting their
spending! Local and states are figuring how to raise taxes and fees so they
can go along as if the economy does not matter. I do not have the answer,
but it appears our elected leaders do not either.

hiring. And their achievement has absolutely nothing to do with proposed
economic salvation plans proposed by the incoming administration.

U.S. Economy: Payrolls Post Biggest Annual Decline Since 1945

By Shobhana Chandra

Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. lost more jobs in 2008 than in any year
since 1945 as employers fired another 524,000 people in December,
indicating a free-fall in the economy just days before President-elect
Barack Obama takes office.

"Consumers are now going to get more and more scared at the prospect of
losing their job," said Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at IHS Global
Insight in Lexington, Massachusetts. Obama's proposed fiscal stimulus
"needs to be big, needs to be bold, needs to be swift. If they can do
something quickly we can limit the hemorrhage by mid-year."

The Labor Department reported that the nation lost 2.589 million jobs in
2008, just shy of the 2.75 million decline at the end of World War II.
The unemployment rate climbed more than economists forecast, to 7.2
percent in December, the highest level in almost 16 years.

Today's figures will intensify pressure on U.S. lawmakers to act quickly
on Obama's recovery program, which may exceed $775 billion and aims to
save or create 3 million jobs. They also underscore the urgency of the
Federal Reserve's $200 billion initiative to restart consumer financing
markets that's scheduled to begin next month.

- - -

Thank you for your leadership on these economic issues, President Bush.

Now if we could get the Feds from stop over spending and there would be
money for the economy to grow on, we could get out of this mess.

Mess?? You Californians better start paying your taxes before Arnold
sells off the lot of you.

Prime example of overspending. the budget was 69 billion bucks 8 years ago.
About 130Billion now. We do not have a revenue problem we have a spending
problem. If the budget had grown at the rate of inflation and population
growth, we would have a $10 billion SURPLUS. If you get a tax refund the
state is going to send you a non interest or penalty IOU. We need to send
non payable IOU's to the legislature while they are failing to do their job.

I visited China (PRC) back in 1986 when they were first experimenting
with the concepts of foreign investments and a subtle shift towards
capitalism.

It was an amazing exposure to life under an extreme socialist society.

The average Chinese factory worker had to bow to and worship his

It was sad. And it hasn't changed.

You say you lean toward socialist/labor. What you are really saying, is
I want someone's else's money. If you were upset about paying heavy

Some of Obama's comments lately are not exactly reassuring to the public.
He's trying to put pressure on Congress to make sure they will approve his
massive stimulus spending, but he's doing it by scaring the bejeezes out of
people. He recently made a statement to the affect that if his plan is not
approved, it may be too late to save the US. Not sure what he means by

The GAO. If you want spur economic growth you need to cut taxes and
encourage business to hire and spend without the threat of increased
taxes. The people need to know that they will be able to spend their own
money the way they want to spend it rather than having it confiscated
and given, "redistributed", to those who won't get off their lazy asses
and work for themselves.

Obama with his misguided idea that he is going to "save" jobs and create
jobs by government spending is comical. FDR tried it before and it
failed miserable. Private industry creates jobs and the most jobs are
created by small businesses. Reducing regulation and taxes will ensure
the greatest growth of jobs. And the repeal of that ridiculous Sarbanes
Oxley legislation is the first thing that needs to happen.

Right now everyone has their hand out waiting for big daddy government
to give them something. Doesn't anyone have any self respect and pride
anymore.
