Same here. But I've got family there and they love telling me the temp. Get a few inches of snow here (near Chicago) and they call up and ask how it's going. "Saw on the news you got dumped on. Everything ok?" "Sure. Just a little snow." "Good. Glad you're ok. Well, I'll talk to you soon. Tell everybody we said hi from Florida. Gotta get going to the beach now. Bye." Assholes. Nothing for nothing, but I lived in Florida for several years. Great place. I loved it, but, I found most people in Florida spend as much time indoors in the summer as we do in the winter. They go from their air-conditioned house, to their air-conditioned car, to their air- conditioned office. It's not so much the heat, but that sun is brutal. |

That's why you have a boat and a pool here. It is one place where they both make financial sense from a "time used" standpoint. I swim about 9 months a year and boat 12. Snowbirds come down here and jump in the pool in december but not me. The 3 months, roughly centered on the winter solstice, don't give me enough sun light on the solars to keep the pool at 80. Yeah, you could tell the locals. They would be dressed in their down jackets. The boys from Michigan would be bare chested, loading their cooler, and heading for the beach. I guess temperatures are a relative thing. |
