Nothing wrong with Elements.

I use Picasa to sort and view photos on my PC. You can also make minor
edits with it.

I have CS4...it reminds me of MS WORD...too many features I will never
use.

I've got Nikon CaptureNX2 on my PC and MAC and I like it a lot better than
Photoshop.

But I use Aperture on my MAC mostly to flow and process photos. I took
300+ photos on my recent business trip to Boston, visited the client last
week, and used Aperture as a "light table" to sort them and pick the 15-20
we'll be putting into a special publication. Grey skies both
days...unfortunately. Aperture is fairly easy to learn, does a lot, and
seems to run and save faster than Photoshop CS4.

In fact, it is one of the major reasons why I want to sell my PC desktop
machine or, perhaps, turn it into a server.

You ought to learn how to edit. I never wrote I was going to pony up for
Elements.
