Google: gimp raw plugins

That reminds me. I downloaded and installed Gimp to try it out and it (or
something associated with the install process) totally screwed up my
computer. It screeched to a near stop, s l o w l y going through the
motions of closing applications, etc.

I did an uninstall of Gimp, and the computer went back to normal.

You know what? I don't remember. I went to the Gimp website and
downloaded:

Download GIMP 2.6.3 - Installer for Windows 2000 and above.

It's at: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

That's the Gimp, and should have worked. You aren't using 64 bit
Windows, are you? How long did it slow down your system? It might have
been indexing your fonts. Other than that, I don't know why your system
slowed. I rarely use the Gimp, and when I do, it's always on a Linux
system.

Anyway, if you are familiar with Photoshop, and want a similar interface,
Gimpshop would probably be what you want. That can be found he

Thanks. I was more curious about it than anything else. My photography
skills really don't task Infranview much for simple editing or PaintShop Pro
which I use for more involved goofing around with modifying images. They
are really all I need.

I don't know why Gimp bogged my computer down. It's normally very fast,
although it's a few years old.
It's a HP Pavilion zd8000 with a 3.00GHz Pentium 4 CPU with 2.00GB of RAM
running Windows XP Home Edition.

I am going to be disappointed with it eventually dies. It's been a pretty
good computer for a laptop.

I haven't. I really don't need another program for modifying images.
InfranView is great for resizing and basic modifications and I use PaintShop
Pro for more extensive manipulations. My photography skills don't warrant
anything more complicated.
