A government auto industry oversight board made up of politicians and
lawyers, consisting of: "Cabinet secretaries from the departments of Treasury, Energy, Labor, Commerce and Transportation plus the Environmental Protection Agency administrator" Can you say, "Cluster-f*&%"? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081208/...congress_autos Eisboch |

The only good thing emerging from the financial fall-out...realization among those who comprise the "thinking public" that corporate screw-ups quite likely exceed governmental screw-ups, and that there is no greed like corporate greed. |

Only there to keep insiders in the process to cover up the payoffs and mistakes... Not only that but the "oversight" will cost us millions too.. Just think, we get to pay to take it up the a**... ----------------- www.Newsgroup-Binaries.com - *Completion*Retention*Speed* Access your favorite newsgroups from home or on the road ----------------- |

Why don't we put T Boone in charge and give all the auto makers wind turbine contracts to keep them busy until they figure out a car that people will buy. T. Boone is an interesting and entertaining nut. He's to be commended for his initiatives, but a lot of the wind has been taken out of his turbines since oil started dropping in price. I have a theory about wind power. If it is implemented on a massive scale, the next thing we'll hear is that by capturing the energy of the wind, we are upsetting natural wind currents, screwing up seed distribution and contributing even more to global warming. Or cooling. Or whatever the tree huggers are promoting at the time. Eisboch |

Not to mention that the wind corridor that Pickens is proposing is right smack dab in the middle of the mid-America flyway for migrating birds. Wonder how he's going to get around that one. |

With the newer technological turbines, I don't believe bird kills are a concern. Most of the reports of bird kills, go back to the Altamont Pass turbines, which were an older technology. http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006...n_misconce.php http://www.awea.org/faq/sagrillo/swbirds.html |
