Sure! They always drop the price of the turkeys. even to the point of
losing money on them. "Lost leader" advertize the bird at low pricing,
then capitalze on the accessories. stuffing , cranberry, butter, flour
etc....

Wife said grocery prices are down. She stocked up on cheese.
Maybe 10 pounds.
Turkey is a twenty pounder.
Say, can you stuff a 20 pound turkey with 10 pounds of cheese?
Then deep fry it?

Um...er...

I guess, but doesn't that normally happen around this time or is it
more than what has happened in the past?

I wouldn't know to tell the truth - I very rarely go grocery shopping
for anything. And when I do the annual Turkey Drive, I just go to the
local farm and pick up what has been donated to the local food banks.

That, by the way, is the least of what the local turkey farmer does
for the local communities. He donates at least a ton or more every
year of fresh turkey's to Food Share and the Catholic food bank the
name of which I forget at the moment.

Four years ago, I made five runs in my F-250. Recent years, we've
added another volunteer, so I didn't have to do all the deliveries.
This year, he's using a refrigerated box truck - that's my Tuesday
chore by the way - gonna drive truck. Kewl.

The truck is donated too - brandy new International 4400 LP with the
venerable DT 466 engine and Allison auto tranny. Pick it up Monday
evening.

WHOO HOO!!!

All I know is Mrs.E. called me all excited because she bought a turkey and
couldn't believe how cheap they were. She said they haven't been this cheap
in years.

I was so excited I had to take a walk.

good job on the food bank. Our local soup kitchen is in financial
difficulty. Wife's faith sharing group is going to help support it.
