The government does not exist to "serve". People serve to support the government. The government exists to provide national security, to develop and execute policies in the national interest, and to legislate federal laws for the common good and in accordance with the constitution. Look, I simply don't buy all the BS that is thrown out about how Bush and Cheney are lining their pockets with oil money, kickbacks for Halliburton contracts, or any of the stupid crap that the left wingers would like us to believe they have "proof" of. I do agree that many in government are corrupt and take kickbacks. So do local building inspectors, zoning board members and cops. But, to claim the Republicans are, by default, all dishonest and thieves, but Democrats are pure, full of virtue and exist only to right all wrongs is about the dumbest thing any mature adult could possibly believe. So why do you promote it? Is this your "reality"? Eisboch |

Actually Harry, for me it's pretty good. the auto electric rebuilding business is picking up. Keep your overhead low, and give quality work and you do fine. BTW, it helps if one works and doesn't loaf. In fact,t hat's why I do what I do, because \during the Carter administration, lay offs were cronic, so I decided to make my own job, and I've been busy ever since. There's a lot of talent out there that could do well if they'd get out of the lunchbucket mentality and do for themselves. Hard to find an auto electric and motor rebuilder around these parts. |

Cycles Harry cycles! It is amazing that we have lost so many jobs, produced so many new workers and the jobless rate hasn't climbed to 90% over the past 30 years. Can you explain why the jobless rate hasn't climbed to 90% over the past 30 years? |

Twice as many employees as GM has. What are these Citigroup employees making? Cars? Refrigerators? Boats? More like 15%, 350K employees at present. It's a financial services business. There are stock brokers, clerical people, customer service folks, lots of IT jobs, loan officers, bank tellers, ATM service technicians, bond underwriters, etc. You'd miss them if they weren't there at all. No, I wouldn't miss them. But that doesn't mean I want them to lose their jobs. It's a cycle. |
