Please alow me to correct that. After serving my country I started my

Times have changed Tim. Many people now think that our country exists
to serve them and it owes them a living.

The government exists to serve the people. Many now in power in the GOP
think the government exists to make it easier for them to amass wealth at
the expense of the middle class. *They* think the government is there for
the plucking, to help them maintain a millionaire's lifestyle.

:)

No sir.

The government does not exist to "serve".
People serve to support the government.

The government exists to provide national security, to develop and execute
policies in the national interest, and to legislate federal laws for the
common good and in accordance with the constitution.

The government, in our form, is designed to preserve freedoms and
opportunities, within the laws.
It doesn't exist to "serve" in any other way. The conclusion you draw is
due to the many interpretations and variances that have evolved over the
past two centuries.

I see. You base your belief on theory, and I am steeped in reality.
I get it.

No. You have created a "reality" because it suits your needs.

Look, I simply don't buy all the BS that is thrown out about how Bush and
Cheney are lining their pockets with oil money, kickbacks for Halliburton
contracts, or any of the stupid crap that the left wingers would like us to
believe they have "proof" of.

I do agree that many in government are corrupt and take kickbacks. So do
local building inspectors, zoning board members and cops. But, to claim the
Republicans are, by default, all dishonest and thieves, but Democrats are
pure, full of virtue and exist only to right all wrongs is about the dumbest
thing any mature adult could possibly believe.

So why do you promote it? Is this your "reality"?

Wrongo Nimrod. The new government exists to attend to our new king.

Actually Harry, for me it's pretty good. the auto electric rebuilding
business is picking up. Keep your overhead low, and give quality work
and you do fine.

BTW, it helps if one works and doesn't loaf. In fact,t hat's why I do
what I do, because \during the Carter administration, lay offs were
cronic, so I decided to make my own job, and I've been busy ever
since. There's a lot of talent out there that could do well if they'd
get out of the lunchbucket mentality and do for themselves.

Hard to find an auto electric and motor rebuilder around these parts.

I guess you weren't around in 1988 and 1991/1992 and 2001/2002. Cycles
Harry cycles!

It is amazing that we have lost so many jobs, produced so many new
workers and the jobless rate hasn't climbed to 90% over the past 30 years.

Can you explain why the jobless rate hasn't climbed to 90% over the past
30 years?

Boats?

More like 15%, 350K employees at present.

It's a financial services business. There are stock brokers,
clerical people, customer service folks, lots of IT jobs, loan
officers, bank tellers, ATM service technicians, bond underwriters,
etc. You'd miss them if they weren't there at all.

No, I wouldn't miss them. But that doesn't mean I want them to lose
their jobs.

It's a cycle.

In the union, that was called a "government job".
