No! I checked the voltage at the inputs and outputs and I think the Garmin is bad. I have .290 mv at both the input and output. The Icom has .290 at the output and zero at the input. I contacted Garmin and they told me they would repair it for a flat fee of $150.00. I haven't decided yet if I want to repair it, buy a newer model or if I can do without the DSC option and just keep it since everything else works fine on it.
PS it was an ICOM 422

Sorry, I meant ICOM. I have an ICOM 302 and a Garmin 162 and have
decided to live without the DSC for now. I have speant more hours on it
than I care to and I have other projects in the works. Perhaps next year
I'll spring for a color unit.

I've been considering installing an ICOM 422, because it was so highly
rated in Practical Sailor. But now I'm reconsidering since I have a
Garmin GPS too. Is the Garmin too old for warranty?

My 162 is too old for warranty but I can't speak for Speck's.

My 182 came with the boat that I bought used by I think it was a 2000 or 2001 model. So it would be out of warranty anyway
