Default are aeronautical lorans compatible with boating?

Are the aeronautical LORAN sets selling for little on Ebay useable on boats?
Just curious. Some don't appear to have keypads for TD1/TD2 entry. How is
this accomplished? Do they also have LAT/LONG flip-flop capability?

Why woud you even want to fool around with an old LORAN when you can
buy a pocket GPS for a little over $100 that is far more reliable and
accurate?

I can not answer your question for sure. When aviation pilots started
putting marine LORANs in their aircraft they found out they did not work
very well due to the speed of the aircraft and the low rate of processing
new positions. I knew several fish spotting pilots flying offshore of the
coast of Maine in the late 70s who made do, but were very unhappy with a
marine LORAN in the plane. This lead to companies such as IIMorrow getting
into the aviation market with faster LORANs. However they were eventually
bought out by UPS and they are now making the GPS tracking and tracking
system UPS delivery trucks use.
I would consider eBay stuff a waste of money. Get a modern GPS.
