Default New Low Cost AIS Receiver

I found in ShipPlotter forum the announce of the new SR161 AIS
receiver.
See details in the site below. Now the NASA/Si-Tex AIS engine have a
competitor.

http://www.yte.com.cn/

The folowing is the specifications:

Name SR161 low cost AIS receiver Brand SR Country of Origin China
Product Description The SR161 is a low cost AIS receiver, designed
specifically for the Leisure Marine and Fishing Boat market.
The Smart Radio SR161 AIS Receiver provides:
=B7 High-sensitivity AIS data reception
=B7 Affordable low price
=B7 Hears Class A & B vessel reports
=B7 Sends the information to be mapped on a PC or chart-plotter
=B7 Receiving frequencies can be preprogrammed
=B7 When detecting interference in the receiving channel, automatically
switch to alternative ais channel
=B7 Very low power consumption
The Smart Radio SR161 is an easy to install, stand alone marine
receiver that monitors the channels assigned to the Automatic
Identification System, or AIS.
AIS reports:
=B7 VESSEL'S NAME - up to 20 characters
=B7 SIZE - dimensions and draught of the ship
=B7 POSITION - provided by differential GPS
=B7 COURSE - relative to true North to 1/10th degree
=B7 CARGO - table of possibilities available
=B7 AND MORE
When attached to a VHF antenna optimized at 162Mhz, the SR161's
serial data output will drive most popular marine charting software
packages available today. The output provides the location of all AIS
transponders within receiving range.
Information gathered by the Smart Radio SR161 is more detailed than
radar and provides the everyday boater with the same information
afforded to commercial vessels. Now you can see what's coming on your
PC or chart-plotter long before it is in your line of sight.
The Smart Radio SR161 allows AIS enabled software to chart ship
positions and descriptions in real-time.
The following packages have been tested and are fully operational with
the SR161:
=B7 Rose Point - Coastal Explorer
=B7 ICAN - Regulus
=B7 Transas - NaviSailor
=B7 Xanatos - Titan
=B7 Nobeltec - Admiral
=B7 EuroNav - seaPro
=B7 YACHT - AIS
=B7 SEACLEAR

Right, and the SR 161 receives and processes all AIS messages, not only some like the NASA/Si-Tex Engine.
Together with Yacht-AIS (www.yacht-ais.com) all text messages including those from the Great Lakes can be viewed.

To my knowledge currently there exist only 7 messages defined by IMO, 2 more defined by IALA/ITU and 10 defined by US Authorities.
Free text/safety messages in Chinese should be decoded without problems
.
If you know of any special chinese messages please point me into the direction of their technical documentation and we will implement them.
