The new Standard Horizon Marine Radio HX-370S handheld radio has features
of
interest to US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, etc. It has 40 FCC
part 90 (land mobile) dealer software programmable memory channels and
covers the frequency range 137-174 Mhz. This includes the 2 meter ham
bands.
It includes CTCSS and selectable 5 HZ or 2.5 KHz channels. It meets the
new
2.5 ppm stability requirement for CG Auxiliary and CAP. The only problems
I
see for CG Auxiliary/CAP use is there is not a direct external power jack
and the receiver intermodulation is only 70 dB, not the 80 dB that the
NTIA
requires. However, it is the only thing on the market I know of that has
this frequency range and is both marine and land mobile type approved.

Do you know first-hand if this feature can be user activated? I've found
several dealers with radios in stock, but none that know zip about the LMR
feature! I'd love to be able to use it as a land based 2m handheld...
