Hi
my autohelm 3000 compass died recently. I took the control unit apart and found three copper wires which act as brushes to send signals to the compass unit. In my unit these wires are loose, are they suppose to be loose??? It looks like they should be soldered to the printed circuit board. anyway I cleaned the wires(brushes) and the commutator rings on the compass unit and put it all back together. surprisingly It works. I'm worried about how long it will work if these wires(brushes) are supposed to be attached to the circuit board. Anyone ever take one of these units apart??? Any Info would be appreciated. thanks |
