FWIW, West is having a killer sale on them at the moment; 100 instead of 150, a free year's subscription to the tracking service, and a carrying case, plus some other coupon freebie (don't recall if it's 30 bux or 30% for something). SPOT is impressive for its price/performance regardless of the occasional growing pains with the web site. Thanks for the sale info. I'm thinking of getting one at that price. If nothing else it would be useful as an inexpensive EPIRB backup, especially for remote dinghy expeditions in places like the Bahamas and Everglades where it is easy to get in trouble. I was thinking of getting a SPOT too but I decided not to. I don't want to put people like Skippy or the rest of you to shame should you look in on my progress and note I regularly do 200 mile days in a vessel with a much shorter LWL. Skippy only manages about half that with a 45-footer. I think the difference is I know how to work the wind and currents and Skippy tends to work against them to meet lubberly schedules.
