Then there was the guy with cancer. He was so convinced that the world
was going to end with the millinium, that he spent all his dough
partying, instead of seeking treatment. Woke up Jan 1, 2000, and the
world, and his cancer, were still here.

There was a science article on Russia Today, the English language TV
station I like to watch on my little Nokia N800 Linux tablet, about a 600+
meter asteroid that will closely flyby Earth on its way around the sun in
2029 easily visible with the naked eye. In 2036, it will meet us again
MUCH closer, only requiring a little gravity nudge by the sun to be on a
collision course, according to the Russian astronomers and the Russian
Academy of Science professors. They've done extensive observation and
calculations on this object. Of course, during the incessant commercialism
on American TV, not a word is said that might cause consumers to lose
confidence and put off buying that new appliance or car or Walmart-branded
Chinese clothing......

Russia Today is available to anyone on broadband at:

News about Pirates in Nigeria holding up sailors is on:

Very interesting maritime news has a click link to:

at Maritime Sovfracht Bulletin in English.
