Diesel is still relatively cheap in North America.
In Sydney, we are paying around $1.85 Australian/litre (at the service
station), which I think works out at about $1.75/litre Canadian.
And probably with more increases to come.

Gasbuddy.com will give you auto gas prices for the above areas, but
not diesel.

For trip planning purposes, I'd budget $6(USD)/gal.

You might get lucky and find that prices have dropped by the time you
leave.

Yup. In Seattle proper, the tax is 9.8% I think. It's close enough to
10% to ignore the difference.
