Justin C wrote in e.com: So if he hadn't been wearing the helmet, the force that was enough to put at helmet *through* the truck wouldn't have meant the driver having to hose the bikers brains off the back of his trailer? If the helmet hung him, then he was unfortunate, without it he would have been dead sooner. On the other hand, if he'd been 6 inches to his left, he may have just "banged his head". At 125 mph, a helmet never saved anyone. It's one of Darwin's laws...(c; I believe it. I dumped my old KZ350 when I came around a corner and realized the road had washed out. Put the bike down and let it go. I didn't realize it in the moment, but my helmet was apparently bouncing on the pavement until I stopped sliding. It was crushed side-to-side, and it took two people to get it off my head. I was only doing about 45. I also had road-rash from my ankle to my shoulder. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
