Unless they moved it, the St. John's River isn't anywhere near St.
Augustine. I seem to recall the St. Sebastian River running behind
St. Augustine, and there was some talk about locating Jacksonville
on the St. John's at one time.

The St. Johns is one of the (if not *the*) longest northn-flowing
rivers in the country. It may well go to STA...

Even so, it's not very long. And it doesn't get near St. Augustine.

I made the trip up (i.e., "down") the St. John's once all the way to Sanford
FL. There's a lake there and a small marina, but I will tell you that there
aren't too many cruising sailboats. One reason is the 45' bridge at Green
Cove Springs. Another is that this is bass fishing and 'gator country, and
there's not much sailing along this route.

There's a lot of nature and beautiful country along the route, but one
particularly memorable incident was my discovery near Palatka of The Burger
King Dock. That's right, the local fast food franchise has a rear dock on
the river where you can tie and get fat. Quite interesting.

Good luck and good sailing.
