I'd dump the move to Key West Idea (KW is too expensive). Try other
areas of FL.

typical hello you can expect to get he

Went to your blog and read a bit. I just about puked.
WTF do you think ur doing UNSCHOOLING your children?
By your own words they "...learn... by asking questions." And doing
things???!
When I taught second grade I had a couple of those poor kids. They
couldnt write, couldnt read, and had now idea how to solve math
problems. You are doing your children a GRAVE injustice which I would
call abuse or neglect at the least. How do you expect them to be
successful. You have just condemned them to a life of academic failure
and most likely personal/social failure too. Oh, I guess they can do
what mom is doing.......... Live by doin a bunch of guys. What is that old
saying, your just one man away from welfare.

Give them a break and PUT THEM IN SCHOOL.............. ANY SCHOOL!

Besides that will give you more time to shove tofu up your self
indulgent, egocentric (careless of the feelings of others) ass and
play groovy chick with your poly boyfriends.

a stay-at-home mom of two girls, (6 and 8). My family and I live
aboard our 66' Bruce Roberts HM 56 full time.

We bought he boat on ebay as a liveaboard project boat. We're going to
put a schooner rig on her and re-do the interior of the boat along
with the systems. As we're planning to make all the systems simple, it
won't cost as much.

Our goal with Boudicca is to live on and circumnavigate in a large
boat on a small budget.

I started a blog to follow our progress, (http://
schoonerboudicca.blogspot.com), though within the next week or two,
I'll be building a whole website, including blog, athttp://www.SchoonerBoudicca.com.

I look forward to being part of the list...

Regina

Greetings Regina;

Nice looking boat, except the ports in the hull, weld them over then
you will have a proper world crusier. Do you have the rigging?

I have a steel hull too, have been on steel boats most my life so if
you need any tips just ask. Also have lived aboard 20+ yrs.

You can get better info on alt.sailing.asa then you can here.

Good luck on your planned voyage. What a keen education your kids
could get sailing around the globe, what better school house than the
real world eh?

Dear Ragina:

Joe has some very good advice. I belive the alt.sailing.asa group has
many more serious sailors willing to help and give supportive
suggestions than you'lll find here.

Also, one person who is consistantly posting helpful advise to woman
sailors goes by the name Wilbur............... Another good source is
also the first books I bought my partner. It is titled , "Changing
Courses: A Womans Guide To Chooseing The Cruising LIfe" by Debra Ann
Cantrell. Well written book for crusing women by a crusiing woman.
Although its also an excellent book for men who need a little
"development and enlightening" to women's special needs.

Just an innocent question from a boat designer's point of view:

Why are heavily framed thick glass ports in the hull side, which can be

They did not line them up on the hull and it looks crappy for one
thing. Also they will be submerged if it ever sails creating drag,
leaks, rust. If the frames are cheap plastic then they will be torn
off docking, or fall apart due to UV breakdown.

She looks to have a high freeboard and the above "gigantic " windows
will not be submerged often, and they may have back bracing and you
can make storm shields easy enough that can be easily applied.

IMO it's one of the nicer looking Bruce Roberts hull with a faired
rolled hull, it's a shame someone botched her up.

What's a poly ?

BTW I agree Bob, they need an education. Not much use navigating if
they can not read a chart and do a bit of math.. Then again, we need
someone to run the needle guns and flip burgers.

Have you turned into a moron lately, Joe? You say they need an
"education" as if an education was something you could actually receive
in public schools. Stop for a moment and think how public schools have
very little to do with education nowadays. They're all about a
bureaucracy whereby incompetent teachers and administrators make large
salaries and do no educating. Rather, their jobs have become
indoctrinating young minds into the socialist agenda.

Any children on a cruising yacht, with whom their parents spend two
hours a day teaching them the three R's, will be more highly educated
than the mind-numbed retards the public school system produces. And
combine that real education with the interaction they have with
different cultures and they will be far better human beings. The only
problem I foresee is if the woman does all the teaching. The man should
do the lion's share of it.
