Default Holy bovine Batman!

Im living away from sydney where my thunderbird was and i was going to be
away for some time so i offered it to all my friends to use. no takers. so
i offered it to strangers to use. no takers. so i offered it for sale for
$1000 and couldnt sell it. So i tried giving it away. No takers. So
finally i put it on ebay starting at .99c with no reserve and got $52 for
it. The buyer never collected it.

The real question though is why do i never get offers like this when *im*
looking for a boat?

I just drove by a Jet Ski on someone's lawn for $18,500.00 or BO. Do
people really pay more for one of these obnoxious things *used* than I
did for a boat that I could live on and go around the world in if I was
inclined?

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise considering the cost of motorcycles
and outboard motors but it just points out what a bargain used fiberglass
boats are. Looks like someone on Ebay is going to get a 41 foot ketch
for not much more than I paid for my 32 footer.

There is no financial excuse not to be out there cruising under sail if
that's what you want to do.

I was going to say something pithy, but upon reflection, the only real
response is "Yup!".

I did a thorough look-over of a sister-ship to ours -- looking for the
flaws we know so well. She was beautiful! Though I didn't see her sails, I
would have taken her as she stood on a "shakedown cruise" to the Caribbean
(starting very slow).

We later found out that those potential buyers backed out of an accepted
bid of $3,500.

Cruising boats are selling at depressed prices now.
