Not familiar with this pump, but supposing that it is derived from an automobile power steering pump, the leak would be coming from the shaft seal - that's the only other rational place for a leak. Replace it. Can you use an automobile type? Brian Whatcott Altus OK thanks Brian for you thoughts from what I have read on line, it may be possible to use a automobile type pump but the input and out put for the hoses might be in the wrong place. Even though it may be possible for me to remove the pump myself, I have decided to take the boat to the mechanic's next Tuesday and will decide what to do after they have had a chance to tell me what options they think are availible. Be careful... Any discussion of steeriing difficulties gets flames in this group, I discovered. :{)) Of course, having been flamed in this group from the very beginning (over 10 years ago), I have a crispy crust and no longer notice... Seriously, yours is different from mine. I, too,in the past, had a similar steering difficulty. Hope it works out OK... L8R Skip, cleaning out my inbox |
