I installed a Technautics "Cool Blue" 12V holding plate system last year.
Works great. We make ice cubes over night. Only caution is to check on
battery sizes if you are never plugged in.
Other point: whatever size of wire is recommended, go bigger. These units
are set up not to start if the voltage gets too low. Protects both the
unit and your batteries. But if the wiring used is too small, the heavy
current draw on startup when the battery is down a little will drop the
voltage at the compressor below the starting level and it won't run when
in fact you have plenty of juice.
