Now ::: to the question. I want to line an icebox area of my boat with
insulation. I got to thinking ?? I probably have a couple or three or four
of the cheap styrofoam coolers in my garage. Some have no cover, some are
cracked ..

I figure I can cut the strofoam and piece it together to fit the contour of
the icebox. But, how do I "stick" the strofoam pieces together.

What kind of glue, whatever will hold cut pieces of styrofoam coolers
together?

Elmer's wood glue, or (better) Titebond (the yellow stuff).

I think you can get 4'x8' sheets of the stuff at Home Depot, etc. if you
feel a need for smoother construction.

I would lean towards epoxy but you would end up MUCH better off going to the
big box and buying some fresh "blueboard" foam. The white stuff is expanded
and absorbs moisture. Blueboard is extruded and does not so it is strongly
recommended for marine insulation. Blueboard also has a higher initial R
value (4.9 vs. 3.85)

Also it is best to use the largest pieces you can. The raw edges of the
foam will fill with the adhesive resulting in a heat path. For less than
$30 you can buy enough blueboard to cover a refrigerator box in three or
four layers.

Oddly, 2-stroke South Carolina, downwind from everyone else West of us,
has clear blue skies and clean lakes and rivers with lots of 2-stroke
outboards. California, with all its restrictive laws jumping the price
of everything in sight, looks like a sewer with unbreatheable air all the
time. This would lead me to believe CARB is off target, way off
target....right?

C'mon Larry, there're four times as many people just in LA basin as in
all of South Carolina. That's 160 times as many people as in Charleston.
Hell, there's as many people here in the Phoenix metro area as in all of
SC. CARB's actually done a very good job cleaning up the air in
southern Cal., given that they started a couple or four decades too
late, and everyone lives 50 miles from their job so they can afford the
ludicrous housing prices.

It was clean here in PHX back when there were only 300-400K people, now
we're doing an LA impression. Check back in with us when Charleston
reaches 4 million people, and give us an update on the pristine
environmental conditions :-)

Wrong, Larry. SoCal has the mountains downwind causing a stall. The
Carolinas have it upwind blowing all the crap into the Atlantic.
California do-gooders have done wonders for the whole continent, seeing
as some manufacturers go Cal clean for all their products.

You could seal and glue the pieces together with ordinary
Sikaflex marine sealant with glue. After gluing you can
cover the inside surface by laminating glassfibre mat with
epoxy. Then apply some putty, and topcoat after that. If you
need to fasten the box inside a veneer box after that, then,
again Sikaflex. (And if your engine breaks apart, then
again, Sikaflex :-)).

Engines are repaired with J-B Weld, duct tape and nylon wire ties.

It's very important to use the right tool for the right job.
