Wayne's response is exactly why I won't post the name of the loft. Now, for the fellow who said he had a Capri 18.... Capri 18 Tri-radial main with full or partial battens, two reefs and leech lines. Using contender cloths: Dacron = 480.00 Kevlar = 700.00 Now what does Airforce sails, an online seller want for just a run-of-the-mill crosscut sail? Try 600 dollars! Bobby gets a kickback ( in the form of free sails) from this outfit on the customers he sends them. If he posted the name he wouldn't get proper "credit" for any resulting sales. Gee, Dave...I just posted the name of the loft as wayne asked in the boats for sale area. 4 people from this thread asked for info and I put them in touch with the loft directly. It's amazing how cynical folks are, but even if I worked in a kickback of some sort (If enough folks ask me for quotes it's an idea!) the prices would still be unbeatable. Ask me for a quote, Dave, and see for yourself. Give me the sail specifics for your boat. You don't have to buy the sail, just tell us if you think it's a good price or not (Assuming the sail is good quality). Robert 35s5 NY |

I hope to get a low low price on a chute if I throw some business his way though. The fact is that I really was well treated by this loft on two used and one new sail. Hey, I'm just answering the guy's question. I would, however, recommend a little independent due diligence. You're trolling and not earning any points. I offered to quote you for sails and honestly report on the pricing. I see you have no answer for that. You can also contact the loft directly and see for yourself. I guess you'll have no answer to that either. This is not ASA so I won't answer you further unless you ask for a quote or respond fairly. Robert 35s5 NY |

Dave, I hope you can produce proof of what you write: 1) That the message you posted actually exists. 2) That more than one message exists. 3) Somerset's Kevlar is ONLY available in triradial so it seems unlikely that your message is real. Your ISP has been alerted about this, thought not by me. You're attempting to hurt people who having nothing to do with ASA, do you realize this? Robert 35s5 NY |

Actually, by the time you posted this (which must have be what, 5 minutes after my previous post) I had provided some additional information about your paymaster on one of the other groups you're spamming on the topic. Truth is an absolute defense, Bobby. You think you've got a lawsuit, put your money where your mouth is. I have no interest in a lawsuit, but I sent the info to both lofts. BTW, as to my ISP, you don't even know who it is, so cut out the BS. That's one of the advantages of using a premium news service rather than AOL and Google. Google has it's own abuse center and you shouldn't underestimate them. You HAVE been reported. I don't know anything else about it. R. |

Nice try, Boobsie, but I've got no connection to Google. You don't get it. I have nothing to do with reporting you, finding you or anything else. If you're some kind of ghost who chases people around and writes phoney reviews, fine. Neither loft makes a Kevlar main that is not triradial, Dave. That was the first silly thing you wrote. Why not google cross cut kevlar. You won't get much. Or better yet, try to order a cross cut kevlar! Like I said, knock yourself out. I have a feeling people can see what you're trying to do. Actually, judging by the amount of people who asked for quotes since last night maybe you're helping. Just don't go asking for any kickbacks. Go find your own. sounds like a loft to avoid.
SBV "Dave" wrote in message ... The sails Somerset made for me were pretty good. We were killer fast with the mylar head sail he made. The problem in not the sails, it is dealing with Martin. Everyone who deals with him seems to have one hassle or another. He apparently does not take any notes when taking calls, and does not remember the details of his conversations well. My advice if you are so allured by the prices would be to put all your corrospondance in writing, and avoid any situation where he owes you something. [Name omitted] wrote: My 2 cents - My experience wasn't so good with Somerset. Great price in January on a new main and genoa, was supposed to be pentex for the price of dacron, but when it came to May delivery there were lots of excuses about material problems, and that he had accidentally made the main with 2 reefs instead of 3. After remaking, he did them in kevlar, a more expensive material for the same price. Made me feel a bit better, but when they arrived - the main wasn't a triradial like ordered, and the third reef was not done right - he basically ignored the sail specs for the boat which especially highlighted. Then had trouble with slides breaking, resulting in luff damage. Also, the UV strip on the genoa made the leach curl - my fault according to sommerset. He did fix the reef and luff - but what a hassle, and Martin is so defensive! After all that the sails' racing performance improvement was not noticeable, quite different than the last set of dacron sails I got a few years ago. An unhappy customer, in spite of the great price. On the other hand, someone else at our club seems to be happy with his sails. At this point, I'm pretty happy with the prices and service I'm getting from my local loft. His prices have been good, and he does what he says he'll do. If I were to deal with Sommerset, I think I'd be inclined to follow the above advice--deal directly with him and put it in writing, rather than playing telephone. |
