Default transporting a boat from Ca. to BC.

Does anyone have any experience in transporting a boat from California to
British Columbia, about 1500 miles, by flatbed? Any companies you can
recommend? Any idea of cost? Boat weight 19000# and 31 feet long. I would
appreciate suggestions and information.

Thanks

Michael

Something you might try for information ..... find a "truck stop" in
your area and approach some of the drivers of flatbeds.
They might (I've talked with many and found most to be friendly and
willing to give info) be able to give you some names and even rates for
those with experience in this area and covering that route.

trucking has limitations of 12 foot vertical height, loaded. If you dont meet
this restriction you might try dockwise.com from ensenada mexico to B.C.
we sent a 33 foot blackfin from
port everglades to ensenada for less than 8k, trucking it would have cost lots
more and we didnt have to worry about vertical height considerations. There was
a web site where you could advertise your trucking needs and someone would
respond, I wish.. I could remember it.

I recently used BoatTrans Express to transport my boat from CA to Oregon.
(650 miles roughly). (30' power boat). Had very good results with them.

That's the information on the person I dealt with. Worth checking them out.

Good luck

Associated Boat transport out of Seattle, Wa. Jack Wolf is the owners name.
They have been hauling boats to and from the NW for over 20 years.

Have you guys actually done this or is this just "expert bar-talk" ?

I've done it twice - Long Beach to Vancouver - that's why I said - Put
it in the water and drive it.

Of course, if you've got $3-8K you want to **** away and no taste for
life - take the wimp's way out.

I know a few folks with that experience. You are sailing into the
prevailing winds and a current. There are few spots to "bail out"
along the coast if you have a problem. Trucking seems to be a
consensus.

Check out http://www.wildrosesailing.com/talk_to_us.htm for contact
information. They trucked a Yamaha 35 from Monterey to Tacoma.

Jack

Not necessarily into the current, but predictably into the wind, which
means if you have a favorable current, it's against the wind, which can
become nasty..... agreed, truck it.

No, I have not had the pleasure of this particular voyage. Three
friends have relayed their experiences, which I passed on to the
original poster along with some contact information he might like.
Two trucked it, the one who completed the delivery of a sailboat
(under power mainly) to Vancouver said he would never do it again. I
do not regard him as a wimp.

Power or sail?
