Default Baseball caps for sailing?

Better to lose the hat than the head ...

Just a thought ... why did the Pirates wear those "pirate" hats? Was that
just a popular hat of the time?

Always wondered about that one.

Black Beard with a Red Sox hat would be a little weird though.
