were I can get information on wiring a USB cable to a GPS?
Thanks Bob

Bob,

I just bought a USB-serial cable which allowed me to hook up my GPS76
to my laptop USB port and to upload and download routes. It does
have a wart with some kinda electronics in it and it requires a
software driver, so I'm not sure that a simple wiring job will do the
trick. Here's a link to look at:

We have two latops with no serial port. I went to Radio shack and purchased a
serial to usb converter. It comes with insallation software. Plug the GPS cable
to the converter and the USB end to the computer. Some programs only recognize
com 1-4 and sometimes the coverter comes on as com 7 or 8, however, it is an
easy fix by going to the device manager to rename it.

Or try a PCMCIA card with a serial port.
