Default Leaking hatches

I was wondering if anybody had any experience in repairing leaking
Lewmar hatches? We have a Beneteau Oceanis 281 yacht built in 1997 and
some of the side hatches are leaking even though the locking handles
are secure. Do the rubber seals get old? Cheers, Liz

They should not fail on a boat of your age. However, it remains possible.

Are they all leaking? If so you may want to change the seal on one and see
if it fixes the problem. If so, the solution for the rest is quite evident.

I do not believe a new seal kit for each hatch is that expensive, nor is it
a major repair that you cannot handle on your own.

Thanks Jim. There are only 2 leaking, one in the aft cabin and one over
the nav table, so I'll check with Lewmar and see if there is a kit
available. Do you know of any preventative maintenance tricks that I
could use to prolong the life of the other ones?

Might try lubing the seals with silicone.
