Early Harley Davidsons did it by making the crank pin a seperate part
from the two counter weights which went on either end of it. Held together with *BIG* nuts on each end of the crank pin. I would think that any split shell Roller Bearing, would be less robust than a regular shell bearing in the same application. Me just wondering........ |

If I remember - they were needle bearings in half shells. Why would split shell needles be less robust than split shell plain bearings? Brian W |
