Default french canals

Does anyone know if it's feasable to cruise the French canal system from
north to the Mediteranian. Is it possible to do it in a 12metre yacht after
dropping the mast and removing or modifying the keel. I've heard the canals
are not maintaned so well now.

I have been traveling the French canals for 4 years now on a converted
Dutch cargo barge. We see many "yachts" in transit between the Med and
the north. The key is the dimensions of the boat. The locks are 5.2
m. wide and 30+ long at the smalest. The air draft cannot exceed 3.5
m.(many bridges) and the water draft should be less than 2 m., but 1.7
would be better.
