Shopping around for a Freedom 10 Inverter/Charger, I ran across a supplier called "WMJ Marine" in Carlsbad, California. Their price is hundreds of dollars less than anyone else I found on the Web. (West Marine price: $899.99; WMJ: $579.)

Anyone have experience dealing with this company? Are they honest, competent, and reliable? Their website is attractive, sophisticated, and professional, but we all know if something is too good to be true it probably isn't.

So, what's the take on WMJ Marine?

I will state that the overhead for internet marketing is low and some businesses offer very good deals on this kind of product online. I have twice purchased Honda generators from Mayberry, a New Jersey company that offers a similarly huge discount for online sales.

I have purchased two EU2000i's from Mayberry, one for my boat and one for my sports management business. Great customer service, quick shipping. (EU2000i is great generator, but be sure to THOROUGHLY drain carb if you are not using it for a long time. They have very fine holes in the main jet assembly that tend to plug with varnish. No problem if you use it regularly or drain thoroughly.)

I believe I had read, recently, that Honda had prohibited internet sales or some such by their dealers. I know that when I had done a search for either the 1/2000, I could not find any direct sellers.

Can you show how to do this with them? (Or, is the Northern Tool equivalent at whatever prices they have about what we'd expect, anyway?) We expect to get one or the other just before we go, as backup to our (to-be massive) wind and solar supply for the ~1300AH bank and shoreside tool power...

I just called Mayberry, from their website direction (no prices posted) and
got 689 and 879 for the 1000 and 2000 models, shipping included. The 1000
is negligibly cheaper (no tax, too) than Northern, but the 2000 is 120 less,
a 13% discount.

Good thing that's the one we expected to buy, assuming it would fit down the
aft lazarette hole!

Thanks for the input. Any other recommendations for web searching with
likely better pricing?

disassemble the thing? How about Sta-Bil in the mix - Does it help?

I too am looking at the Honda 1000 or 2000 and Freedom 10, but I've read
that the smaller generators do not have the power/capacity to properly run
the Freedom 10 as a charger. Has anyone had success with one of the two
combinations?
