One of the covers is still good throughout and the underside has a handsome varnished teak face on it. I'm not sure I'm the guy to bring things back to quite that standard but I'd like to get the tops looking right if possible. The black stuff between the teak strips on the presentation side is kind of crumbly, sunken and looks more like pumice than caulking of any sort. I scrubbed a lot and bleached a little, orbit sanded and rubbed teak oil and mineral spirits (what my people called paint thinner) and then straight oil in buckets but it is still pretty scuzzy looking and the tiny brass nail heads I couldn't see before wasted my sandpaper. It was humbling. It took all night to do a 14x14 chunk and I have 6 acres to do,.. So what is the black stuff? Can I just use black 5200 or sikaflex? I am definitely open to suggestion here. Thanks again. Probably black polysulfide |
