NC really fell down on the job WRT the ICW. A shame since
it in their economic interest to keep the ICW maintained.

After my earlier warning, now Boat US has a brief article in its
November 2004 issue of Boat U.S. magazine about the risks and dangers
of travelling the ICW after the recent hurricanes -- some inlets and
channels silted (to less than three feet), channel markers disappeared
or moved, sunken boats and trees. Beware.

That has nothing to do with the hurricanes... the ICW in the southern
part of NC is silted because it hasn't been dredged......

...so if you thing you have to go as far as Florida to have
problems.... nope... see:

I also like the idea that my Mac26 was tied down in the driveway
throughout Ivan, of which the eye went over my house, and is one of
the few boats that survived the Lakeforest yacht club marine that is
now just a boat launch with many pilings to tie to. It is a good
weekend gunkholer, and I tow it up a hundered miles and put in at a
lake for a different kind of sailing or tow it down to Port St Joe
Florida. Different Strokes.

. It won't win races, but
its a nice waterbago.

Finally, a honest man!

"Waterbago"...that's hilarious...

I've heard a lot of crap about Mac 26Xs over the years, and when I
finally saw one at a show I wondered what all the fuss was about. OF
COURSE it's not a great sailboat, and it's probably only mediocre as a
powerboat, but it's better than a log with a sheet on a stick and no
doubt is perfectly adequate to the sort of daysailer/gunkholer who has
little time and calm, local waters.
